North of Neskowin lies the beautiful Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a safe haven for several different types of mammals, amphibians, shorebirds, anadromous fish, and waterfowl, including 10% of the world population of dusky Canada Geese. This cozy beach community also offers a nine hole golf course, one small grocery store, and one restaurant, the Hawk Creek Café, a local favorite.
Migrating whales are one of the most spectacular natural events that occurs along the Oregon Coast. In winter, Gray, Humpback, and Sperm whales journey from their feeding grounds in Alaska to their breeding and birthing grounds in Baja. In the spring they make the journey back to Alaska and generally stay closer to shore, it is not uncommon to see them within half a mile from shore. Gray whales are the most prominent. On each trip approximately 18,000 gray whales pass along the Oregon Coast. While there are several leviathan lookouts along the Oregon Coast, Sahhali South is perfectly situated to view these amazing animals from the comfort of your own home.
There is a 9-hole golf course located in Neskowin just a 2 miles from Sahhali South. Neskowin Marsh Golf Course is open seasonally. There are several 18-hole golf courses north and south of Sahhali South including the Chinook Winds Golf Resort, and the five star course at the Salishan Spa and Golf Resort just 15 miles from Neskowin.
There is an abundance of hiking trails in and around Neskowin. In town Proposal Rock sits right at the edge of the surf. Several trails meander around the rock offering a bird’s eye view of surf and scenery. A beach hike from Porter Point to the mouth of the Nestucca River is the perfect hike for beachcombers and bird watchers alike. The trail is located on the north end of Neskowin Beach. Cascade Head lies between Lincoln City and Neskowin and is a Mecca for hikers with over 10,000 visitors each year. Several trails will lead you up to an open prairie headland where you will find spectacular views of the Salmon River mouth and coastline as far as the eye can see. The upper section of Cascade Head is a preserve for several rare plant and animal species. Ninety-nine percent of the world’s population of the Cascade Head catchfly, a small flower, is found here. A more technical hike, Harts Cove, is just a few miles south of Neskowin and offers a wooded trail ending with open prairie and ocean views.
Thousands of cyclists ride the Oregon Coast every year. From Neskowin ride Hwy. 101 in either direction or travel down Slab Creek Road through old growth forest and farmland into Otis for lunch at the excellent Otis Café, a popular resting spot for cyclists.

Just over nine miles north of Neskowin, this former sleepy fishing village has come to life with art galleries, shops, and several excellent restaurants. Fishing charters and horseback riding are available year round by appointment. One of the most spectacular sites in Pacific City is Cape Kiwanda; a breathtaking cape accessible by climbing a 300 foot sand dune. A popular beach with surfers and tide poolers, Pacific City is also home to the dory fleet. Every third weekend in July Pacific City hosts the annual Dory Days, a festival complete with a parade, fish fry, street markets, and one of the few places in the world where you can watch the dory boats in action.
Ten miles south of Neskowin is Lincoln City. Here you will find the Chinook Winds Casino, Tanger Outlet Mall, and the popular Devils Lake Recreation area. There are several large grocery stores, restaurants, and shops, as well as seven miles of beach to explore. Lincoln City also has a large recreation center complete with pool, rock wall, gym, indoor track, and basketball courts. Known as one of the best places to fly kites in North America, Lincoln City hosts a huge kite festival in the summer and again in the fall each year.
There are several popular attractions in Newport including the Hatfield Marine Science Center, Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium, named one of “Americas Most Awesome Aquariums”. There are two historic waterfronts in Newport; the recently renovated Nye Beach and the Historic Bay Front. Both offer scenic streets lined with trendy shops, cafes, seafood markets, and restaurants.
